There have been more impactful changes to our planet and society in the past 150 years than since the dawn of humankind. Current food consumption has devastating effects on the planet (intensive farming, pollution, etc.) and on humans (obesity, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, etc.). Fortunately, there are now new ways of thinking about food that could perfectly integrate into the modern pace of life and halt the depletion of food supplies. Why is smart food a valuable tool? This article is not intended to encourage replacing traditional diets with smart food, but rather to highlight the positive impact that smart food can have on humans, their health, and the environment.

Ecology.

Tomorrow's food system must take into account current and future issues of overconsumption of resources, overpopulation, and pollution. The resources (water and food) required for meat production are far greater than those required for plant-based foods (cereals, legumes, fruits, etc.). On average, we consume:

  • 10 times more water is required to produce 1 kg of red meat than 1 kg of legumes (i.e. on average 200 g of protein in both cases).
  • 30 times more agricultural land is needed to produce 1 kg of red meat than to produce 1 kg of legumes.
  • 100 times more greenhouse gases are emitted in the production process of 1 kg of food from animal sources than in the production of 1 kg of food from plant sources.

For all these reasons, smart food is an environmentally responsible alternative. All OKR meals are vegan, and our single-serve meals are made from 100% recyclable paper. A first on the market.

Save time.

With the modern pace of life, the time spent on meals is decreasing year after year. Cooking healthily and eating at the table can take up time you don't necessarily have or would like to devote to something else. In this context, smart food provides a practical and balanced solution, whether for one-off or daily use, and can allow you to enjoy your precious time as you please. However, there's no need to stop cooking or give up meals with friends and your little culinary pleasures. It's all about moderation. At OKR, preparation time varies between 0 and 45 seconds flat!

Nutrition.

While it's important to have a balanced and varied diet, it's not always easy to maintain it on a daily basis. Today's consumer society offers a variety of fast food options: fast food outlets, bakeries, pizzerias, kebab shops, etc. However, while appetizing, these alternatives aren't always balanced. Even seemingly healthier choices like ready-made salads can turn out to be false friends: they're often far too fatty, salty, or even sugary. Smart food can, in this case, offer a balanced alternative and encourage a healthier lifestyle. OKR meals are complete meals that provide you with all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals you need.

Economy.

It's nothing new: consumer goods prices are rising a little more each year, and food is no exception. Smart food ensures an optimal intake of a variety of nutrients in a single product. New technologies provide an economical solution by reducing the number of foods needed for a balanced diet.

In summary.

Smart food continues to evolve daily, offering solutions that are increasingly aligned with current environmental and societal challenges. Remember that each initiative contributes to conserving resources and developing new ways of thinking about food.
